I bought my first Digital SLR camera in 2006. The Canon EOS 350D was for sale. I got some explanation about this camera, till the enthusiastic salesman showed me
a Samsung GX1L. He was so positive about this camera that I accepted his advice. For two years I used the automatic setting of the camera. Sometimes I had really
nice pictures, but I couldn't imagine why. In 2008 I moved to Canada with my spouse. We went to a town called Dundas. I participated in a digital photography course
at the Dundas Valley School of Art. After the first course I joined a second one and a third. In the beginning my photo's got worse, but after a while I saw some improvement. I learned about aperture, shutter speed, exposure compensation, ISO and white balance. My new neighbourhood challenges me to take photo's. I visit
the Netherlands a few times a year. Nowadays I see my home country with different eyes. Recently I bought a new DSLR camera, a Nikon D90. All the photo's you see
on my website are taken with the old Samsung. In the near future I will upload photo's taken with the Nikon D90. In September 2009 a new course will start at the
Dundas Valley School of Art. I'm looking forward to it! |

In 2006 kocht ik mijn eerste digitale spiegelreflex camera. Ik zag een aanbieding voor de Canon EOS 350D. In de winkel kreeg ik uitleg over deze camera, totdat
de verkoper mij een Samsung GX 1L liet zien. Hij was positief over deze camera en met zo weinig ervaring ging ik in op zijn aanbod. Twee jaar lang fotografeerde
ik op de automatische stand. Soms kreeg ik een leuke foto, maar soms ook niet en ik had geen idee waar dat aan zou kunnen liggen. In 2008 verhuisde ik met
mijn partner naar Canada. We daalden neer in het plaatsje Dundas. Daar zag ik een aankondiging over een digitale fotocursus bij de Dundas Valley School of Art.
Ik schreef mij in en volgde de eerste cursus, daarna de tweede en een derde. In het begin werden mijn foto's steeds slechter. Maar na een tijdje begon ik het door
te krijgen en veranderde mijn stijl en techniek van fotograferen. Ik raakte vertrouwd met termen als: aperture, shutter speed, exposure compensation, ISO and
white balance. Goed voor mijn Engels, maar zeker voor het fotograferen. De nieuwe woonomgeving is uitdagend, daarnaast kom ik ook regelmatig in Nederland en
door de fotografie ga ik anders naar mijn eigen land kijken. Ik was ondertussen toe aan een nieuwe DSLR camera. Het is de Nikon D90 geworden. Alle foto's op deze website zijn gemaakt met mijn oude en vertrouwde Samsung camera. De komende tijd ga ik foto's plaatsen die gemaakt zijn met de Nikon D90. In september start
ik met een nieuwe fotocursus en hoop ik ook het komende jaar weer veel inspiratie op te doen!
